Hard problems. Clear advice. No layers between you and the person doing the thinking.

Analysis, advice, and senior resource. And when the stakes are high, someone to sit alongside you — making sure the process serves you, not the other way around.

What I do

Advisory

Strategy, competition, regulation, and policy. The kind of work where the question matters as much as the answer — and where having the right person think it through makes the difference.

Interim leadership

Available to step into senior roles on a fixed-term basis. For organisations that need experienced leadership quickly, without the overhead of a permanent hire.

Senior resource

Not every engagement needs a new workstream. Sometimes it needs an extra pair of experienced hands — in due diligence, in regulatory proceedings, or wherever the work is. I’m not precious about level. I’ll work as part of your team, build the model, write the slides, do the work.

Regulatory process management

When a business faces a serious regulatory or competition process, the advisory costs multiply fast. I sit alongside the client — managing the process, evaluating the advice, asking the questions nobody else will, and making sure the outcome serves you rather than the meter.

Selected work

Price Cap Design — UK Financial Regulator

Advised the regulator on the structure and calibration of a price cap on high-cost consumer credit. Combined demand-side econometric analysis with supply-side financial modelling to forecast market outcomes under alternative designs. The cap introduced remains one of the most significant regulatory interventions in UK consumer credit.

Competition Assessment — National Insurance Regulator

Acted as external competition team for a thinly resourced regulator, delivering a board-level assessment of competitive conditions in a concentrated insurance market. Identified areas of concern and set out a programme of further analytical work.

Alternative Remedies Package — Major UK Bank

Led the competition economics workstream for a major UK bank’s successful application for public funding to build competitive capability. Awarded the maximum available grant. Subsequently managed the remediation programme when the client’s circumstances changed materially.

Open Banking Strategy — Major European Bank

Supported a major European bank in developing its strategic response to PSD2 and Open Banking — from initial risk assessment through to live pilots and new proposition development. One output became a standalone new business.

Local Market Competition Analysis — PE-Backed Consolidator

Mapped competitive conditions at local market level across an entire national portfolio for a PE-backed consolidator facing heightened regulatory scrutiny. Delivered an acquisition screening framework identifying priority risk areas for future deal activity.

Investor Economics Framework — Online Travel Platform

A listed travel platform’s management struggled to communicate the economics of the business clearly to investors. Devised a disaggregated economic framework breaking the business into its key cost and revenue levers, designed to serve dual purposes: internal performance tracking and external investor narrative. Management left with a tool they could actually use.

Regulatory Process Management — Major Financial Institution

Embedded alongside the client team throughout a significant competition authority investigation — managing external advisors, coordinating submissions, and providing independent evaluation of the economic evidence. Kept the process on track and the advice honest.

Interim Innovation Lead — Technology Business

Stepped in as acting head of an innovation function during a period of strategic transition. Maintained momentum on live programmes, managed the team, and contributed to the strategic reset that defined the function’s direction going forward.

About

Antti Lemberg

Finnish economist. Copenhagen-based, global practice. Two decades at Frontier Economics and Copenhagen Economics, working where regulation, competition, and strategy intersect.

Shiroberg is named after my dog. Shiro is a Bichon Frise — white, hence the Japanese, hence the mountain. We adopted him a few years ago when his previous family couldn’t make it work. Something I’ve never regretted, including at three in the morning.

I direct a parkrun, keep a fish tank, and once won the UK pesäpallo championship. I do not have enough Artek.
